WHEREAS at a General Meeting held on or about the 20th of February 1955, by the South Indians residing at Ahmedabad, it was resolved to form an Association named "AHMEDABAD SOUTH INDIAN ASSOCIATION" for preserving and propagating Dravidian Language, Script and Culture (Dravidian Language, Script and Culture here would mean Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam and Kannada and also any other Dravidian Language allied to any one of the earlier mentioned Languages) among the South Indian adults and their children. (South Indian being understood in this context as persons belonging to those linguistic minorities residing at Ahmedabad or any other place in the State of Gujarat wherever born, and who ordinarily converse at home in Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, Kannada or any other Dravidian Language.) AND WHEREAS for giving effect to the above noble and primary intentions of the South Indians, an Association known as "AHMEDABAD SOUTH INDIAN ASSOCIATION" was formed and registered as a Society under the Societies Registration Act, 1860 (Registration copy enclosed). AND WHEREAS in the Memorandum of Association of the said Association, the above said noble intentions were sought to be given expression by suitable words and expressions and by clearly enumerating them in the object clause of the Memorandum of Association. AND WHEREAS now it has been discovered and come to light that the words and expressions used in the object clause of the Memorandum of Association as originally drafted and registered do not completely portray and express the true intentions and consensus for which the Association was formed. Therefore, the Managing Committee of the Association in a meeting held on 15-7-1974 deemed it necessary to suitably amend the Memorandum of Association so as to convey and express correctly the true intentions and object of the Association. AND WHEREAS the amended Memorandum of Association and the amended Bye-Laws of 9-4-75 stood the test of time for over two decades. The Managing Committee with a view to make the Memorandum of Association and Bye-Laws more broad-based and relevant to the present day requirements recommended and the General Body of the Association unanimously adopted the various amendments to the Memorandum of Association and ByeLaws at the Extra Ordinary General Body Meeting held on December 10, 2006.
